Hundreds of Pacific Languages Could Face Extinction

I spoke with the Google Endangered Languages Project Team last week for an upcoming article that I am writing on languages at risk of extinction in the Pacific. According to their team, there are 590 Austronesian, Trans-New Guinea, and Pacific isolate languages currently listed as endangered by the project.
